David Stewart is currently a Graduate Assistant at the University of Washington, where he is an assistant director of the University of Washington Wind Ensemble. Additionally, David is the principal director of the UW Symphonic Band, UW Concert Band, and UW University Band. David manages all aspects of these ensembles from concert planning and repertoire selection to communication and rehearsal direction. Working with ensembles of Masters and D.M.A. musicians, as well as diverse ensembles representing over 40 academic majors and members of the community, he has cultivated rich musical experiences centered on thematic concerts that blend classic band works with newer pieces by underrepresented composers.
